This is the final documentary advert, using feedback form my focus group as well observing current deadlines, I have extended the size of the pictures and as such they make up the area of the advert. I have also added the channel 4 logo which is one of the conventions of channel 4 advertising. Therefore the audience know what TV station the documentary will be shown on.
My second ancillary product is the newspaper advert and here is the construction so far.
I have changed my design form the original as I felt that the use of the bricks may not give the audience the preferred reading that I would like them to have (Stuart Hall’s audience theories).
However I pitched this new ideas to my focus group and this is what they said:
This is the radio programme that is advertising the documentary.
As previously mentioned, it is has used BBC woman’s hour as inspiration.
After producing six different ideas for the design of my newspaper advert, I needed to design a final idea so that I have something to work from.
A complex design, the use of the bricks with different thoughts imprinted on them is an important feature as it is very closing linked with the title of my documentary (Shaping our futures). I decided to place a flag at the top to signify that they are both, like so many people their age, trying to reach the top and ultimately conquer a hypothetical wall that they need to overcome to succeed.
A common feature on channel 4 newspaper adverts is the placement of the channel 4 logo. This ensures that the audience know what channel the programme advertised will be on.
